Installing

Windows
  1. Unzip the file anywhere, for example in Documents\EmbroideryCraft.
  2. Double-click EmbroideryCraft.exe.
  3. The first time, Windows SmartScreen may warn that the app is from an unknown publisher. It is not signed (signing certificates cost money every year). Click More info, then Run anyway.
macOS
  1. Unzip the file and drag EmbroideryCraft.app into Applications.
  2. The first time, open it with right-click › Open, then Open.
  3. On macOS 15 and later, if there is no Open button: try to open it once, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Linux

Install Rust from rustup.rs, unzip the source and run:

cargo run -p embcraft-gui --release

You need the usual OpenGL and X11/Wayland libraries (on Debian or Ubuntu: libgl1-mesa-dev libxkbcommon-dev).

Before your first real project: sew a test design on scrap fabric. The command-line tool that comes with the app writes a trim test pattern, and File › Trims in DST files lets you match your machine.
